[PART 2]

When Israel crossed the Red Sea, The Lord gave them The Law to live and be guided by. They had the free Moral agency to obey and be blessed; or to disobey and face the consequences. God let them see His goodness to them at Goshen in Egypt. They also saw God’s severity on Egypt, Pharaoh and the Egyptians who resisted what he wanted done in Egypt.

Now throughout the wilderness journey God was unfolding more of who he was to them in the exodus. And from them and through them God wanted the rest of the world to know Him.

One day in the wilderness, Moses requested this from the Lord: [EXODUS 33:18]

“And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.” In response, the Lord said:

“I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.” More of God’s nature is being unfolded to Moses. The proclamation of His Name to Moses at this point is in reality the revelation and manifestation of more of his attributes:

[EXODUS 34:5-8]

5. "And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.

6    And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

7    Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear [the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth [generation].

8    And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.”

This is God’s further revelation of who he is to Moses. From Moses we now know more about who our God is by what he is:

(A). “...THE LORD, THE LORD GOD... ”

When Jesus finally returns he will be the manifestation of “Lord of lords” Whoever regards himself as lord now will have to bow before him. [PHILIPIANS 2:9-11]

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;

And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

There will be no debate about his Lordship. The entire creation, [earth, moon, sun, sea, rivers, beasts, fowl, etc] has been recognising him as Lord anyhow.

The Red Sea: When he was going to cross the Red Sea, he commanded the wind to blow and make a path for him. The law of gravity suspended its activity until he passed across the Red Sea. He did not need Bridge Engineers, Hydrological Surveyors, and A special budget to build a bridge for Him. The bible said: [PSALMS 77:14-16]

“Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

Thou hast with [thine] arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.”

[Psalms 77:19]Thy way is in the sea and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.”

[ISAIAH 43:15-17]

“I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.

Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.”

Pharaoh of Egypt can testify to this truth. It was his chariots, his horses, his army, his power, which God laid down together under the Red Sea, extinct, quenched, never raised again. This truth remains truth forever to all generations. Scientist and politicians tried to water it down, but truth will always prevail.

[ISAIAH 43:10-13]

“... understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange [god] among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

Yea, before the day was, I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?” There is no challenge to this assertion that God makes about himself. This also is Truth.

Nature recognises its maker. Only man thinks he is smart and has better ideas than God. [ISAIAH 1:2-3]

“Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

The ox knoweth his owner and the ass his master's crib: [but] Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.”

Balaam’s ass saw the Angel of the Lord with a sword in his hand ready to strike. Balaam the False Prophet did not see the Angel of The Lord. The stubbornness of man will never hinder God at all.

At Noah’s Ark. The Animals, the fowls of the air, understood that FLOOD JUDGMENT was coming and they went into Noah’s Ark male and female. [GENESIS 7:7-9]

“And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.

Of clean beasts, and of beasts that [are] not clean, and of fowls, and of everything that creepeth upon the earth,

There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.”

All the rest of the people who disregarded Noah’s Message perished in the flood. Birds, Reptiles, Beasts recognised what God was about to do and they entered into God’s provided place of safety, Male and female of each kind.

As Water and storm obeyed the voice of God, the devil also tried to impersonate God by producing a destructive storm on the Sea, [Sea of Galilee]with an intention to drown Jesus and his 12 disciples. Jesus, who was asleep in the boat, woke up spoke and said, “Peace, be still” and the waves obeyed, and there was a great calm. The Disciples were astonished and said “what manner of a man is this?” Water and wind know him as their Lord.

Fire obeys Him. In the exodus journey, God commanded fire to descend upon Korah’s followers and consumed all of them. One day in Babylon, an ungodly king tried to burn 3 Bible believing Hebrew children in a furnace heated seven times. That fire’s ability to burn became selective like the darkness effect in Egypt and Goshen. The men who cast the 3 Hebrews into the furnace also landed into the furnace. They were the ones who were burnt. Why? The fire recognized that its creator and Lord was right there.

The sun and Moon suspended their Law of Orbiting by the command of a man of God. [Joshua]. Joshua needed more time to defeat and destroy his enemies, the Amalekites.

The earth, at the command of God, opened and covered up rebellious Korah and his group.

Gravity Law suspended again. A metallic axe head, which had fallen into the Jordan River while on use,  was commanded to swim up contrary to gravity pull. [2Kings 6:4-7]

“So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.

And the man of God said, where dd it fall? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast [it] in thither; and the iron did swim.

Therefore said he, Take [it] up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.”

The God, who created everything, visible and invisible, has power to cause anything of His creation to obey His Word and do His will. Does He prove He is Lord over everything? Yes He does.

(B). “...MERCIFUL and GRACIOUS”: This also was another attribute of God, part of his name.

Cain deserved death after murdering his brother Abel. But God showed mercy for his physical being to continue to live.

The woman who was caught in the act of adultery was to be stoned. But he showed mercy and let her go warning her never to do it again.

The people who called on Jesus to be crucified received mercy from him when at the cross; he asked for pardon for them, instead of judgment.

The penitent thief on the cross received mercy at the last minute of his life. This is a very significant attribute of God’s nature. His name spells mercy for us. Even when we do not deserve it he reaches out to us with it.

(C), “...LONG SUFFERING”: That also is what makes him unique.

For 120 years in Noah’s day, God patiently waited in his longsuffering for the people to repent of their sins. Only Noah, his wife, and his 3 sons with their 3 wives believed the word. Think of a patience that can hold on for 120 years! Who on earth is a match for that?

God waited for another 40 years for the children of Israel to be ready for the Exodus when he came down to deliver them after 400 years in slavery in Egypt.

Nineveh was ready for judgment because of their sinful life. But God gave them 40 days to repent. He patiently waited, and they did repent. When their King heard they only had 40 days to put things right with God, he and his subjects plus their animals went for a fast and God showed them mercy.

[JONAH 3:6-10]

“For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered [him] with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

And he caused [it] to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:

But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn everyone from his evil way, and from the violence that [is] in their hands.

Who can tell [if] God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

And God saw their works that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did [it] not.”

When we draw nigh to God, He will draw nigh to us too. He remaineth faithful to his nature.

The Laodicean church Age is the worst of all the 7 Church ages. The bible says the people of Laodicea say they are: “... rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing;” but God says: “... and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:” The Laodicea Church Age which began in AD 1906, has now lasted for 105 years. God has been patiently waiting for this age to repent and allow Him to come in and operate in His Church again. It has not so far. He now deals with individuals. What He did in Nineveh, He can also do in Laodicea. This is how long God can patiently wait for us to turn to him. His long suffering is an attribute of what he is. Long suffering is an alphabet of what spells His Name.

(C). “... ABUNDANT IN GOODNESS...” The list of the goodness of The Lord is very long. Abraham appreciated His goodness when He prevented Abimelek from taking Sarah to be his wife. Joseph always found favour with God, in all his adversities, from his brothers, from Potiphar’s wife, even in jail. Naaman the leper must have been very grateful to God for healing him from leprosy. God’s suppied to Israel, in the wilderness, manna, water, shoes and raiment which never got worn out. The demoniac of Gadara received back his sound mind. The Lame man who received his healing at Gate Beautiful, and the man born blind who received his sight. God showed his goodness to Peter when he supernaturally released him from Jail at night. God gave us salvation on the merit of His own blood. He is ever present, protecting us, providing our needs for us, healing us when we are sick, and loving us.

God has declared and proven the truth about himself, and about his word to man since creation.

When God gave Moses the 10 Commandments, all that is therein is nothing but THE TRUTH.

Indeed there is no other god besides HIM. Theologians have tried to split Him into 3 GODS, through their trinity doctrine. You can either accept his truth or believe your own things: [DEUTORONOMY 6:4], says

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD:” This is the truth about himself from himself.

[ISAIAH 40:25-26]

“To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? Saith the Holy One.

Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these [things] that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that [he is] strong in power; not one faileth.”

This also is his undisputable truth. There has never been one match against him in any way or form.

That is truth which has been proven over and over. ALL other gods are the imaginations of man. [EXODUS 12:12]

“For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.”

There was no god in Egypt that stopped him from demonstrating his Godship and from delivering Israel.

There was no god that withstood him in the wilderness. Even Jethro, The priest of the Midianites said:

[EXODUS 18:11]

“And Jethro said Blessed [be] the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly [he was] above them. “

[John 10:17-18]: He gave a challenge, and proved it:

“Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again ... I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again...”

By His foreknowledge, he declared:[Isaiah 14:7] “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” And a virgin called Mary did conceive a son and was named Immanuel. When he came, the bible says: [JOHN 1:14]: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

God promised Abraham would have a son and would call his Name Isaac, and Abraham had that son.

In Eden, when sin found access to humanity, God would have wiped out Eve and Adam and started afresh. But the fall drew out from God what we didn’t know; MERCY!

When the 10 Ministers brought their negative report from Kadesh Barnea, they caused the hearts of the children of Israel to melt. Then they murmured against God. And for the 10th time, LONGSUFFERRING, He finally said:

[NUMBERS 14:11-12]

“And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? And how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?

I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.”

Moses reminded Him of His Name which he declared and proclaimed to him:

[NUMBERS 14:17-20]

“And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

The LORD [is] longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation].

Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word: ” You see! MERCY AGAIN!

At the bringing to humanity, the greatest anointing, with the multi-faceted levels of mercy, Jesus said:

[LUKE 4:18-19]

“The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

In return, they cried out against Him: [LUKE 23:21] “Crucify  him, crucify him”

Again His great attribute of MERCY proclaimed: [LUKE 23:34] “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” That pardon is still available to whomsoever will. But a pardon is not a pardon except it be accepted as a pardon.

Any born again believer is a beneficiary of these attributes of our God. The list of examples would be very long indeed. Examine yourself and see if the manifestation of him by this name has been made real in your life?

“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. [EXODUS 20:7]

Gehazi, Elisha’s servant, obtained two talents of silver and two changes of garments from Naaman by deceit, in the name of Elisha the Prophet. He was not left to go unpunished: [II KINGS 5:25-27]

“But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.

And he said unto him, Went not mine heart [with thee], when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? [Is it] a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?

The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.”

God does not take this guilt lightly. It was severely punished. That was the name of a prophet used in vain. How much more the name of The Lord? Shouldn’t we check ourselves daily in case we are guilty in using the Name of the Lord in vain? How many prophesy falsely in the name of the Lord, and have not come to pass and still insist it is of the Lord? How many have made claims of things that are not true yet the name of the Lord is attached to them? Such was the case with Hananiah, the son of Azur, the prophet. He contradicted Jeremiah’s  70 years prophecy :

[JEREMIAH 28:10-11]

“Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it.

And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.”

The name of the Lord was used in vain. Hananiah was guilty. God did not aquit him of this quilt without repentance. He died that very year. [JEREMIAH 28:15-17]

“Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD.

So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.”

This reaction from God is connected to giving worship to other things other than God. Iniquity is, knowing what you should not do, but you go on to do it anyhow.

[Exodus 34:14] Worship no other God.

Satan wanted Jesus to bow down before him and worship him. Jesus sternly told him:

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” [LUKE 4:8]

God is a Spirit. And they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”  [John 4:24

The Lord God sees himself as the only object of worship. This is his first and second command:

[EXODUS 20:5]

“I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;”

This is how serious God takes worship. Know and have the truth about Him first. Then be filled with the Holy Spirit. Then you can worship him acceptably, that is in Spirit and in truth. Or else it is vain worship.

When he says he is jealous, he means it. He cannot stand to see worship being given to something else. It provokes the same feelings as when a married woman shares her love with another man other that her husband. [PROVERB 6:34-35]

“For jealousy [is] the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.”In his presence, other gods bow down before him: [I SAMUEL 5:1-4]

Dagon fell on his face and both his head and palms of his hands broke off.

“And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.

When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon [was] fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon [was] fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands [were] cut off upon the threshold; only [the stump of] Dagon was left to him.”

The worshippers of the golden calf, Korah, their priest, Abiram etc were buried in the cleft of the earth which opened beneath their feet and swallowed up all that worshipped it and burnt incense to those idols:

[NUMBERS 16:30-35]

“But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that [appertain] unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.

And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that [was] under them:

And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that [appertained] unto Korah, and all [their] goods.

They, and all that [appertained] to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.

And all Israel that [were] round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up [also].

And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense. “

The true and only God does not tolerate idolatry. This is another attribute which manifests God’s nature as defined by the Name declaration he made.

By this name proclamation to Moses, we now understand God’s Lordship upon all; severity on sin; his goodness; grace; longsuffering; and mercy where it is not even deserved. In Him is no lie, because he is Truth personified. Concerning justice, He does not acquit the guilty. When genuine remorse is shown, he pardons. As for His Glory, He shares it with none. Worship is His; and His alone. That is the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob. That enables us to understand God when the Bible addresses Him as:

JEHOVAH- JIREH (The Lord our Provider); JEHOVAH-RAPHA (The Lord our Healer); JEHOVAH-NISSI (The Lord our banner); JEHOVAH-SHALOM (The Lord our peace); JEHOVAH-RA-AH (The Lord my shepherd); JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU (The Lord our righteousness); JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH (The Lord Is present). When Jesus said, “I came in my Father’s Name”, he didn’t just mean the WORD JESUS. He came, not only as  JEHOVAH SAVIOUR, but all the above mention 7-Fold Names.

I hope this article has brought some blessings to you.
