There are only two sources of knowledge: God who is the very fountain of Knowledge and Satan who is the author of perverted and actual evil knowledge. Since he cannot create, he only perverts what God originally created. 

In The Garden of Eden God showed it as the 2 Trees:

(A) The Tree of Life; which is based solely on God’s word.

(B). The Tree of Knowledge of Good and evil. It is a mixed knowledge consisting of that which is good and that which is evil.

The world today is run by myriads of man-made systems, encompassing education,  Science, Technology, commerce, Art , Music; Theology; Philosophy; Astronomy, electronics; Medicine, Law Architecture etc., etc. All these have a lot of good in them. But each one of them has their own intrinsic evil.

We are grateful for the many inventions man has made. Aeroplanes, ships, locomotives,  automobiles have made traveling and mobility of goods and services easy and faster. But millions of lives have also been lost in the oceans, seas,  rivers, forests, mountains and national highways by the same good inventions. We can say the same thing for every invention of man we have had on planet earth today.

Here is another part of this knowledge which God specifically and uncompromisingly calls evil and forbidden to his children. This includes witchcraft, Astrology, soothsaying, divination, necromancy and even philosophy. [Col. 2:8]

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ”

Some countries, societies and religions, accept, embrace and practise these forbidden kinds of knowledge. But the one book, The Bible clearly forbids it. Of course not everybody accepts and believes The Bible. So this is written for them that believe The BIBLE which in common sense stands for: [BASIC INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LEAVING EARTH] If you really care for the destiny of your dear soul, then believe the instructions of this book, the Bible.

The Bible saith in [Acts 7:22] concerning Moses.

“And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.” But God took him to the wilderness for forty years and beat that kind of knowledge out of Moses before he could be used for the exodus of the nation of Israel from Egypt.

Similarly, in the New Testament, Paul was another learned man but in Theology, under the great Theologian and Bible Teacher, professor Gamaliel. When God called him to be his minister, He also took him to the backside of the desert to beat it out of him. When he came back this is what he said about that Knowledge:

[Philippians 3:7-9]

7. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

8. Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.

9. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the Law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith”

To the Corinthians, he said: [1Cor.2: 4-8]

4. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the spirit and power:

5. That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of man, but in the power of God.

6. Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, that come to nought:

7. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

8. Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”

  

So, what we are going to speak about is already in the Bible and for those who believe it. Therefore it is for full Gospel believers of The Bible. I have no reason to be giving out my opinion. Check with The Bible if it is so or not. Paul taught it, so I am comfortable teaching it as he presented it. The Prophet of [Malachi 4:5-6] taught that these gifts should be in every local assembly. I am therefore facilitating and helping those who want to see it, by putting it together in these articles.

WHAT THEN IS THIS GIFT OF: “THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE?”

Let my define it this way:

“It is a supernatural release or revelation of information, or facts, (present, previously hidden, unknown or forgotten,) but has now been brought up by the Holy Ghost for remembrance and for use for some present purpose or need”

This may not be exactly what it is, but see if the biblical examples we will be pulling out fit into what this gift is. So this gift must be word based in

(A). content: (information and facts)

(B). Purpose: (Blessing, warning, remedy, guidance, God’s will etc.)

(C). Time frame: Usually for immediate need.

(D). Operation: always initiated by The Holy Ghost.

(E). Results: Always comes to pass, and has beneficiaries and glorifies God.)

From the examples we already have in the Bible, and like any of the other 9 Spiritual gifts, the operation of the gift of “The Word of Knowledge” may involves any of the following operations;

1. By manifestation of vision: [Elisha and Elders]
2. By a dream: [Cornelius The Centurion]
3. By spiritual revelation: [Jesus]
4. By reference to scriptures [Angel Gabriel to Daniel]
5. By voice of the indwelling Holy Spirit from within you. [Elijah]
6. By audible vocal communication by the Holy Spirit. [Shepherds in the Field]
7. By another Holy Ghost filled human agency. [Agabas to Paul]

EXAMPLE # 1. [1Kings 14:1-6]“THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE”

TO AHIJAH THE BLIND PROPHET, FOR JEROBOAM’S WIFE.

1. At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

2. And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: there is Ahijah the prophet which told me that I should be king over this people.

3. And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.

4. And Jeroboam wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5. And the Lord said unto Ahijah,“Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.”

6. And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? For I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

Now here are “THE FACTS” and a set of “INFORMATION” or “KNOWLEDGE” being given by The Holy Spirit to Ahijah a blind Prophet in this situation:

-          Behold the wife of Jeroboam cometh.

-          She cometh to ask you about her sick son

-          She cometh disguising herself as another woman

-          At hearing footsteps at the door, blind Ahijah said “come in, thou wife of Jeroboam”

-          Blind as he was, Ahijah unveiled their plot:  v 6 “Why feignest thou thyself to be another”

-          Ahijah told her he had a heavy tidings for her:  v 12 which is: “Arise thou and therefore, get thee to thine house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.”

-          V 17 “And Jeroboam’s wife arose, and departed, came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died” 

Was there a giving of “information”, “facts” and “knowledge“ by The Holy Spirit beforehand concerning Jeroboam, his wife, their son Abijah, and Ahijah the blind prophet?

Did everything come to pass as this drama was unfolding?

This is just one of very many manifestations of the gift of “The Word of Knowledge” in the Old Testament. We are going to pull out several examples to establish it completely. At the witness of two or three, let a matter be established.

 

EXAMPLE # 2:[2 KINGSS 5: 20-27]: THE “WORD OF KNOWLEDGE” 

GIVEN TO ELISHA, EXPOSED GEHAZI AS A DECEIVER & A LIAR .

Naaman the Captain of the Host of the king of Syria wanted to give Elisha a reward for his healing from leprosy.

Elisha declined and Naaman departed with his gift.

Gehazi his servant followed Naaman and by deceit obtained the gift Elisha had declined.

On returning, and meeting Elisha, all he did was exposed: [V 25]

-           Whence comest thou Gehazi?

-          Went not my heart with thee, when the man turned from his chariot to meet thee?

-          Is it time to receive money,

-          And to receive garments,

-          By the same gift, Elisha saw what Gehazi intended to do with the money he obtained:

-          To buy oliveyards, vineyards, sheep, and to hire menservants, and maidens.

-          For obtaining those things by deceit, the Leprosy of Naaman was pronounced to come upon him and to cleave unto him and his seed forever.

The Prophet of [Malachi 4:5-6] said, one of the purposes of the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit is to keep the Church of God clean.

Think about yourself doing crooked deals and expecting to get by with them. Remember, Gehazi,  Ananias, Sapphira and Judas. There is no getting by while this gift still exists in the Bride of Christ.

 

EXAMPLE # 3: [Judges 7: 9-15]: THE “WORD OF KNOWLEDGE”

GIVEN TO DIRECT GIDEON TO VICTORY OVER THE MEDIANITES.

Read and I believe, bearing in mind how this gift was applied in the above examples, you can see how God used it on Gideon, again in the Old Testament. Let us now move to the New Testament and our End Time too.

 

EXAMPLE # 4: Luke 2: 8-20]: BY THE “WORD OF KNOWLEDGE”

THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST, FIRST MADE KNOWN TO SHEPHERDS:

8. And there were in the in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9. And lo the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10. And the angel said unto them:

• Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
• In the City of David,
• This day, a baby is born
• He is going to be a Saviour,  Christ the Lord
• He is wrapped in swaddling clothes.
• You will find him lying in a manger
• That is Mary’s first born
• Multitudes of heavenly hosts appeared saying glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men.
• The shepherds went to Bethlehem to see the things they were told.
• They found the baby lying in a manger and  Mary and Joseph around him.
• They found and saw the things as they were told.
• God supernaturally spoke to Shepherds audibly from the sky through the angle of the Lord.
• A lot of precise information was declared audible to them.
• They went, confirmed, and found, it was so.

That was the gift of “THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE” ANOUNCING THE BIRTH OF THE MESSIAH, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

PURPOSE;

It meant so much for Mary and Joseph who were constantly under accusation of having had an affair which led to Mary’s pregnancy. [Luke 2: 19]

“But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart”

The true , and real Lamb of God, was first made manifest in the manger  and to Sheep, and herds because, he was coming to put an end to their death, through his own dying on the cross.

He first appeared to the shepherds because; he was coming as THE TRUE and THE GOOD SHEPHERD of His Sheep.

[OTHER EXAMPLES# 5]: The “WORD OF KNOWLEDGE“

Given for the safety of the child Jesus three times after his birth:

(1). To the “Three Wise Men” from the east not to tell Herod where the baby Jesus was.

(2). In a dream, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph and said: [Matt.2:13]

“... Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”

Joseph and Mary took the baby Jesus to Egypt and remained there until Herod was dead.

(3). [Matt.2:19-21]

19. “But when Herod was dead, behold the Angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in       Egypt,

20. Saying, arise, and take the young child and his mother, go into the land of Israel: for they are       dead which sought the young child’s life.

21. And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.

 

EXAMPLE # 6:TRIUMPHANT ENTRY; JESUS TO JERUSALEM; RIDING AN ASS.
CASES INVOLVED INCLUDE: Jesus; two of his disciples; an ass; a colt; the owner; multitude; Pharisees.

[Mtt.21:1-3]

• Jesus wanted an Ass and a Colt;
  
  
• Jesus sent two of his disciples to a village nearby to get them.
  
  
• The colt was to be one not ridden on by anybody.
  
  
• They were to just go, find it, loosen it and bring it.
  
  
• If anyone questioned why they were doing that, they were to say: “The Lord hath need of him”
  
  
• They went found them loosened them, brought them and he rode it through Jerusalem to fulfill prophecy.

“Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest” [Matt.21:9]

 

EXAMPLE # 6: “WORD OFKNOWLEDGE” 
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PASSOVER

[Mark. 14:12-16].

• The occasion was the feast of the unleavened bread.
  
  
• Two disciples were sent into the city.
  
  
• You will meet a man bearing a pitcher of water.
  
  
• Follow him to where  he goes in and tell him the Master wants to know:
  
  
• “Where the guest-chamber was, where he was to eat the Passover with his disciples is?”
  
  
• He will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared.

THE TWO DISCIPLES: were given instructions to follow, which was the “WORD OF KNOWLEDGE" used to make ready where the Passover was to be celebrated. Who was to be contacted; what was to be asked; what kind of room was to be made ready the occasion.

 

EXAMPLES FROM THE ACTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE APOSTLES:
EXAMPLE # 1: PHILIP THE EVANGELIST WAS LED TO THE ETHIOPIAN EUNUCH:

[Acts. 8:26-39]

And THE ANGEL OF THE LORD Spake unto PHILIP saying;

• Arise and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza.
• Behold a man of Ethiopia, a Eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethopians.
• A man in charge of all her treasure.
• Had come to Jerusalem to worship and is going back.
• He will be sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the prophet.
• Go near and join him in his chariot
• As Philip hears him reading he asked if he understood what he was reading.
• He told Philip he did not understand, without a guide.
• He invited Philip to come into the chariot and sit with him
• Philip explained and preached to him Jesus, whom he believed to be The son of God.
• As they approached a certain pool of water, The Ethiopian requested to be baptized and he did.
• After baptizing him, Philip was caught away; and the Ethiopian saw him no more.
• He went on his way rejoicing.
• Philip was caught away and found himself at AZOTUS, and went on preaching in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.

Through this gift, Philip the Evangelist was led and given to know:

(A). Where  to go;

(B). who to meet;

(C). What  to do.

That was perfect leadership by the Holy Spirit to the saving of an Ethiopian elect.

By the gift of the “WORD OF KNOWLEDGE” the following people were led to achieve similar purposes of God.

ANANIAS was led to go to a place where Paul, The new convert, was praying, after his encounter with Jesus on the way to Damascus.

Cornelius, [The Roman Centurion] was instructed to send for Simon Peter who was dwelling with a certain Simon, a tanner, who was dwelling by the sea side.

Paul The Apostle was prevented from going to Asia but was led to go to Macedonia by a vision, where he met Lydia, ministered to her and baptized her and her household. [Acts16:14-15]

Jesus was used in the same way in his day. The prophet of [Mal. 4: 4-5] said When Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit at River Jordan; he received THE GREATEST ANOINTING THAT WAS EVER GIVEN TO A MAN. And by that, he knew WHAT to do; WHERE to do it; WHO to go to; WHEN to go;

56-0101 - Why Are People So Tossed About?
294. Some people get the wrong impression of what the anointing is. Did you ever think of that? When was the greatest anointing ever give to anyone, and what did they do when they had the anointing?

The greatest anointing that was ever give to anyone was Jesus Christ. We have the Spirit by measure. He had It without measure.

And one day He entered into the temple, and picked up the Scroll, and read, said, "The Spirit of God is upon Me, for He has anointed Me to preach the acceptable year, to bind up the broken hearts, to heal the sick, give sight to the blind." And now, we would think, if such anointing was on Him, that'd been prophesied eight hundred years before that It would come, and here He was with that type of anointing, the full blessing and anointing of the Lord upon Him, we would want to run all over the building, scream and holler.

But the Bible said, "He laid down the Scroll, and set down, and precious words proceeded from His mouth." That's what He done under the anointing. The anointing is not emotions.

The anointing is supreme power in control, like knowing exactly what and how See?, and that's what's here.

That was how Jesus was led. That was why he said: In myself I can do nothing. What I see my FATHER DO that I do. What I hear him say, that I say.

When he chose to pass through Samaria, it was shown to him who he was going for. The woman at the well.

When he came to the Pool of Bethsaida, there was only one man that was to be healed and only that one.

When he was to pass by Zachaeus residence town, it was his day to be found and to be saved. The gift of the “WORD OF KNOWLEDGE” allows God to just do what has to be done each day, WHERE, WHEN; WHY; HOW etc., etc.

 

LASTLY, LET US SEE TWO MORE EXAMPLES OF HOW IT WORKED:
DURING BROTHER BRANHAM’S TIME:

51-0413 - The Works That I Do Bear Witness Of Me
41. ...   And I noticed as I went in… I still had my uniform on. I was state game warden of Indiana. And I went into the drug store.

And there was a bus that stopped out there, and a fellow got off and looked at me kinda odd. I went in, and in a few minutes I'd forgot all about it. And I come back out, and there was that fellow standing there looking at me again. I thought, "He wouldn't try to hold me up, me armed and everything else, so…"

42.   And I started walking on, just counting my change out, put it back in my pocket. And I felt a hand lay on my shoulders. He said, "Sir."

And I said, "Yes, sir."

He said, "Pardon me." He said, "Are you an officer?"

I said, "I work for the Conservation of Indiana here."

And he said, "Well, I seen you go in just a few moments ago. I want some information. I live in Paducah, Kentucky. And I have been failing in health for some time. Last evening, while I was asleep, I dreamed I saw an Angel come down from heaven. And He come and told me to come to this city of Jeffersonville, and ask for somebody by the name of Branham. I thought maybe that you might know if there's anybody here named Branham."

My heart just felt like it would have come out of me. I stood there. I said, "My mother runs a little boarding house around the corner."

He said, "Is your name Branham too?"

And I said, "Brother, come here just a minute." I stood on the corner, and I told him all about three weeks before that, this Angel came down, and how this nurse had been down, when I took hold of her hand, she was healed with a cancer and from twenty-one years, graduate, and all what had taken place.

And he started crying, and we knelt right there on the corner of Court Avenue and spring. And I prayed for him. And when I rose up, the peoplewere standing back with their hats off, standing there in respect to prayer.

And God moved down and healed that man right on the corner where he was at. Why? God had foreordained, and it must come to pass.

THAT MAN was GIVEN SOME KNOWLEDGE IN A DREAM. He followed what he was shown and told. He had believed what he was told to do; he did it and received what God was leading him to have. God saw his need. He arranged the meeting by making Brother Branham to come to the place where they would meet.

That was not co-incidental. God planned and executed it. See how God cares for us humans even when we still do not know him as God who cares. [Rom.5:8]

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

AUNTIE JEMIMA; BRO. BRANHAM; AND AUNTIE JEMIMA’S SON

54-0722 - Whatever He Saith Unto You, Do It
[Read from Para 30 –34]
30 ... And I kept going on; there's a little colored house there, little bitty hut like.

 ... And hanging over the gate was a typical old Aunt Jemima, big woman, colored, ... As I come down the street. I saw the tears running down her cheeks like this. And I passed by, and she said, "Good morning, parson."

... I said, "Good morning, Auntie.”... So I turned around, I said, "Auntie, pardon me, but how'd you know I was a parson?"

...  And said, "I went to sleep on my knees I dreamed that I saw a man wearing a light lead colored hat, with a light suit on, just you, exactly, coming down the street.

And the Lord said, 'Here he comes.'

...  "I woke up about three o'clock, I come on out here, and stood at the gate since three o'clock waiting here this morning for you to come along. And I seen you coming; the Spirit of the Lord told me, 'Here he is."

AUNTIE JEMIMA yearning to have her backslidden son back to Christ prayed a prayer of desperation, asking where the God of Elijah was. God stepped in for her in a dream:

• She saw a man wearing a light lead coloured hat.
  
  
• He was dressed in a light suit, coming down the street.
  
  
• The spirit of the  Lord confirmed to her, that he was the one she had asked the Lord for.
  
  
• The Lord told her to come out to the gate and wait for him.
  
  
• When he was at the point of passing by, she greeted him calling him parson.
  
  
• That caught Brother Branham’s attention and he stopped to ask how she knew he was a parson,
  
  
• She explained and invited him into the house to pray for her sick, almost dying son.
  
  
• The boy was instantly healed and sat up on the bed.
  
  
• The prophet left and arrived in time for the plane to leave.
  
  
• Years later the boy met and recognized the prophet and introduced himself as the one he had prayed for.

The gift met the need of a mother’s desperate desire for healing and salvation of her backslidden son.

Through a dream the Lord showed Auntie Jemima how she was going to identify brother Branham.

Auntie Jemima didn’t know it was her prayer that stopped the plane brother Branham was traveling in.

For those who have been taught that gifts bring confusion, is there any justification, whatsoever,  to continue living in  IGNORANCE or  FEAR of the operation of the Gift of the “WORD OF KNOWLEDGE”? I don’t have to exhaust every example there is in the Old and the New Testament to show that it is a gift God has been using all the way from Genesis to the book of Revelation.
