Why Is Cain Omitted In All Biblical Genealogy Of Adam’s Family?
Genealogy: Is the list of ancestors or descendants; or the study of lines of descent. It is sometimes called, “FAMILY TREE”
Genealogies are compiled for various reasons:
1.Toshow biological descent
2.To show the right of inheritance
3.To show succession to an office.
There are 3 genealogical records in the Bible, which consistently and absolutely omitted CAIN:
(1). [Gen 5:1-32]; (2). [1Chron.1:1-4];(3). [Lk.3:36-38]
[Gen 5:1-32]
“This [is] the book of the generations of Adam....And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
(1). RECORD OF THE FIRST GENEALOGY:
[Gen 5:1]-ADAM. [Gen 5:3]-SETH. [GEN 5:6]-ENOS. [Gen 5:9]-CAINAN.
[Gen 5:12]-MAHALALEEL. [Gen 5:15]-JARED. [Gen 5:18]- ENOCH.
[Gen 5:21]-METHUSELAH. [Gen 5:25]-LAMECH. [Gen 5:29]-NOAH.
[Gen 5:32]-SHEM, HAM, JAPHETH.
[Jude 14] Says: And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
-From this beginning of Adam’s genealogy, Enoch was counted as the seventh from Adam.
-For sure, we know that CAIN was EVE’S first born.
-Why is CAIN omitted in this Adam’s genealogy, yet he was Eve’s first born son?
-If Cain were Adam’s biological son, ENOCH would have been 8th, and not the 7th. What is amiss?
(2). BIBLICAL RECORD OF THE SECOND GENEALOGY OF ADAM:
[1CHRON. 1: 1–4]
Adam. Sheth. Enos. Kenan. Mahalaleel. Jered. Henoch.Methuselah. Lamech. Noah.
[Shem, Ham, Japheth.]
-Again, in this second record of Adam’s genealogy, in the Bible, CAIN is omitted. Isn’t it strange?
-If CAIN were Adam’s son, ENOCH would have been logically the 8th. In this genealogy.
-Although CAIN was EVE’S biological son, Adam dissociated himself from fatherhood to CAIN.
(3). THE 3rd BIBLICAL RECORD OF ADAM’S GENEALOGY. [THE NEW TESTAMENT CONFIRMS THE O/T.]
Luke’s account traces ADAM’S lineage backward from SEM (SHEM) to Adam.
[Luke 3: 36 – 38]
“36. ...Which was [the son] of Cainan, which was [the son] of Arphaxad, which was [the son] of Sem, which was [the son] of Noe, which was [the son] of Lamech,
37 Which was [the son] of Mathusala, which was [the son] of Enoch, which was [the son] of Jared, which was [the son] of Maleleel, which was [the son] of Cainan,
38Which was [the son] of Enos, which was [the son] of Seth, which was [the son] of Adam, which was [the son] of God.”
-Again CAIN was omitted in the New Testament records.
-Three witnesses in the Old and the New Testament agree that Cain’s fatherhood has nothing to do with Adam. [OH! THERE IS WAKE UP CALL TO LOOK HARD AT THIS TRUTH.] The bible cannot lie. True, chosen, called, sent messengers of God, will show you the truth all the time, just as the Bible says it!
-If Cain were ADAM’S son, THE LAW OF THE BIRTHRIGHT would have entitled CAIN the right to be included in ADAM’S Lineage. He did not qualify because of who his father was.
-CAIN has every right to claim he is “A CREATURE OF GOD.” Unfortunately he has no claim as “A SON OF GOD.” Or else, Satan would also have the claim of being “A SON OF GOD”, which would automatically, make him “OUR BROTHER” See what he did to Abel? He was Abel’s brother because they came from the same womb, but by 2 different fathers. I will show you shortly.
WHOSE SON THEN IS CAIN? DOES THE BIBLE TELL US WHO HIS FATHER WAS?
The answer is, “YES!” Now let us get it.
[1 John 2: 11- 12]
“For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
Not as Cain, [who] was ofthat wicked one, and slew his brother, And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.”
-Seth, Adam’s son was begotten in Adam’s Likeness and after his image, which also was God’s likeness and God’s image.
-Nowhere in the Bible, is there any reference to Adam being called as “that wicked one”
[Gen.5:1- 3]
“This [is] the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat [a son] in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:”
-SoCain’s father is give to us as; “that wicked one”[1Jn 2: 12]
-“That wicked one” rules out Adam, and it also rules out God.
-Seth was Adam’s son. [Gen 5: 3]
-Adam was GOD’S son, [Gen 5:1], [Luke 3:38]
NOW WHO IS “THAT WICKED ONE”?
]Matt.13:25-30]
“24. Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field from whence then hath it tares?
28He said unto them, an enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.”
-Now the answer to our question is hidden within this parable and the scriptures following.
-Let us hear what Jesus, the rightful interpreter of his own parable says.
[Matt.13:36-39]
“36ThenJesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: andhis disciples came unto him, saying, declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
37He answered and said unto them,He that soweththe good seedis the Son of man;
38The field is the world; thegood seedare thechildren of the kingdom; but
the taresare the children of the wicked one;
39The enemy that sowed them is the devil; theharvestis theend of the world; andthe reapersare the angels.”
From Jesus interpretation of his parable, we are given to understand that:
(a). The Field is the World
(b). The Good Seed, represents The Children of The Kingdom
(c). The sower of the Good Seed is The Son of Man
(d). The Tares are The Children of The Wicked One
(e). The Enemy that sowed them, [Tares] is The Devil.
Jesus parable has now unveiled to us who “the wicked one” is;
The “wicked one”, “the enemy”, and “the devil”, is the same self person, declared by his attributes.
The Apostle John who understood Jesus Parable now, plainly says;
[1Jn 3:11-12]
“For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
Not as Cain, [who] wasof that wicked one, and slew his brother, And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.”
Here are two distinct fruits in the lives of two brothers from the same mother, EVE.
CAIN manifested “his father’s nature”, [Evil]. ABEL manifested “his father’s nature”, [righteous]; all the way from the beginning.
OUR NEXT QUESTION IS: WHO, REALLY, IS THE DEVIL?
First of all he is a creature, of God: [Ezk. 28:13-15]
“13. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone [was] thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14. Thou [art] the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee [so]: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15Thou [wast] perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.”
Just to use a simple illustration; we all know that what we ordinarily call WATER, Chemists, in their own specialization and language refer to it as: H2O.
-This H2O can exit in different forms, namely ice, hails, snow, fog, mist, steam and clouds
-Also H2O, can cover portions of the earth surface, and be variously called: rivers, lakes, seas, oceans, wells, springs, glaciers etc, etc.
-The attributes of each of these forms are very different. But whatever form they are in, it’s H2O.
In a similar way, the Bible has very many titles for this creature called “The Devil”. [Ezk.28:13-15]
[REVELATION 12:7- 10]
“7And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”
From this few verses alone, the same Devil is called:
-The great dragon
-That Old Serpent
-The Devil
-Satan
-The accuser of the brethren.
In other different scriptures, he is called:
-The deceiver
-Lucifer [Isaiah 14: 12]
-Anointed Cherub, [Ezek. 28: 14]
-That wicked one, etc, etc.
[Gen. 3:1-5]
“1. Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2. And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3. But of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
[Gen. 3:13-15]
“13And the LORD God said unto the woman, What [is] this [that] thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou [art] cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
From these 2 accounts, here are a few more facts revealed:
-The Serpent, who was in heaven, incited a rebellion and war against God.
-God cast him and his angels out of heaven down to earth.
-He was now in the field [The world] with all other creatures, including Adam & Eve.
-He was subtle, wise, persuasive, and deceptive.
-By his subtlety, he lured Eve into adultery, leading to Eve’s first born, [Cain], the first tare, of that wicked one. [Now recall, Jesus parable and his explanation.]
-The curse changed him from an upright to the crawling creature.
-Also, recall, what The Apostle John said, in [1Jn:3:12]
OUR QUESTION WAS WHY CAIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ADAM’S FAMILY GENEALOGY.The answer is in the Scriptures.
Cain had a genealogy where he fitted in: Here is his genealogy: [Gen.4:16-24]
16And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one [was] Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and [of such as have] cattle.
21And his brother's name [was] Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
22And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain [was] Naamah.
23And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken 24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
Now the scriptures have shown us that there is one GENEALOGY for ADAM’S “FAMILY TREE” and another for CAIN’S “FAMILY TREE.”
One is referred to as “Children of the Kingdom of God.” The other, “Children of the devil”
The Children of the devil, who can also be very religious, don’t know their father, but presume that God is their father.
Jesus, in his day, confronted many, and this he told them:
[John 8:38-44]
“38. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with
yourfather.
39Theyanswered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
40But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, we be not born of fornication; we have one Father, [even] God.
42Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
Jesus, being God veiled under human flesh, declared the hardest and probably the most painful truth to the ears of those very religious men, who presumed they were children of God.
Now, Jesus Himself, confirms the Genealogies so far outlined:
[Gen.5:1-32]; [1Chron.1:1-4]; [Lk.3:36-38] & John’s account in [1Jn.3:11-12]
Paul the Apostle in his day, encountered several of them too. In the book of [Acts 12: 10], he said this about ELYMAS:
“... oh full of all subtlety, and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, will thou not cease to pervert the right way of the Lord?”
How about this? [John 17: 12]
“While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
[2Thess. 2: 3- 4]
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
There are many scriptures to prove that there are two kingdoms operating along side one another:
(A). The Kingdom of God.
(B). The Kingdom of the Devil. [Lk.4: 5 -7]
“5And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.”
There is coming a time when they will all come under the rule and authority of Christ
[Rev 11: 15]
“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this worldare become [the kingdoms] of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever”.
The king of this kingdom, and all who accept his perversion, evil, unrighteousness, and ungodliness will be annihilated:
This Kingdom was prefigured in Eden as “THE TREE OF GOOD AND EVIL”
-The Tree of good and evil cannot bear good fruit
-Nothing that is long lasting can come out of this kingdom.
-Everything that is seemingly good it invents has a death-causing element in it.
Every King has subjects. Satan`s subjects enjoy doing the works which manifest the lusts of their father. They depend on CARNAL KNOWLEDGE to understand God and spiritual matters.
The born again Christian is a pilgrim on earth. As Abraham was when he was looking for that city, so is the elect on earth today. He loves to manifest the nature of their Heavenly father: holiness, love, mercy, judgment, faith, kindness, peace, righteousness. He understands God, by SPIRITUAL REVELATION.
